Frequently asked questions
how does vibroacoustic therapy work and what I can expect during a session?
The client lies supine on a comfortable vibroacoustic machine, through which low-frequency sound vibrations (30-120 Hz) are transmitted and felt with the whole body. It is a pleasant, undulating and gentle movement, from the feet to the shoulders. This movement is generated by a sound wave that is felt through the surface of the vibroacoustic bed. During the therapy, the aim is to relax and let the sound vibrations vibrate. There are also clients who fall asleep during the session and this is also allowed. The necessary process takes place in the same way.
The therapy is based on a multimodal approach, which means that the therapist works with the client's physiological and psychological experience during the session, combining three therapeutic components: low frequency sound vibration, music listening (optional) and therapeutic interaction. The combination of these three components allows the client's emotional, cognitive and social problems to be closely linked to bodily functions and sensations in order to find a solution through the therapeutic process. (Punkanen M., Ala-Ruona E. 2012).

what is the method based on? what research is it based on?
There has been extensive worldwide research on the potential of VAT in neurology, palliative care, gerontology, oncology, pulmonology, immunology, paediatrics and dermatology. The best results of the VAT method are in the treatment of somatoform vegetative disorders (headache, neuroses, sleep disorders, depression, vegetodystonia). It has a rapid effect in the prevention of a wide range of diseases and in ensuring a calm and balanced well-being. Find more research references here.
HOW DO specialists KNOW WHICH FREQUENCIES ARE SAFE AND CORRECT?
The founder of vibroacoustic therapy Olav Skille pointed out that 40 Hz could be considered the "frequency of life" as it seems to be the fundamental frequency for creating balance and optimising bodily functions, acting similarly to a "reset button". In addition, frequencies below 40 Hz are also associated with relaxation and general well-being. 40 Hz would be the frequency to start with.
How come I am only now learning about this therapy in Latvia?
Although this method is practised all over the world - in the EU, the USA and Canada, it has not been in Latvia for very long. Vibroacoustic therapy is only offered in Latvia in our therapy center. Psychologists, psychotherapists, music therapists, physiotherapists and other medical and healthcare professionals worldwide work with this method based on research and long-term clinical observation.
